Gymnastics – Programs for Kids and Teens
At Whitlam Gymnastics we provide gymnastics programs for babies and toddlers, through to kinder, primary and high school aged kids.
Our key programs – Kinder Gym, Gym Fun, Gym Skills – are designed to create a fun learning pathway to help your child progress from a beginner, who’s figuring out how everything works, to an intermediate or advanced gymnast. All while developing essential physical and behavioral skills, and a life-long passion for sport and recreation.
Little Gym 1 45 minutes | 18 months to 2.5 years
From walking to the age of 2.5years, this parent assisted group is a foundation program that develops basic movement through creative childhood teaching approach, engaging gymnasts in both structures and non-structured learning.
Little Gym 2 45 minutes | 2.5 to 4 years
Our parent assisted 2.5 – 4 year old gymnastics begin to focus on basic gymnastics skills, aiming to develop a greater understanding of the body. It teaches essentials such as a safe landing techniques, rotation, balance and dominant movement patterns in a structured class that helps stimulate learning.
Little Gym 3 45 minutes | 4 to 5 years
Our 4+ preschool aged gymnastics begin to transition into an independent learning class that focuses on school readiness through both physical and mental development. Not only will these gymnasts learn move advanced movements such as handstands and cartwheels they will also further develop their listening and social skills, build confidence and have fun along the way!
Junior Rec 1 hour | 5 Years to 8 Years
Our Gym Fun class are for primary school children who want to have fun whilst developing gymnastics skills, learning cool tricks and most importantly, how to do them safely!
The objective of these classes is to continually enhance ability by progressing through a wide range of basic to advanced gymnastics movements across all apparatus. Every class follows a written program based on a specific set of skill competencies, ensuring gymnasts are developing strong foundations from the ground up. Just like all learning, mastering the basic skills is essential to developing a more advanced ability.
Intermediate Rec 1.5 Hours | 9 Years to 12 Years
Our Gym Skills classes are designed to teach gymnasts intermediate to advanced movement in a non-competitive environment. Gymnasts within these classes will follow a written program based on a set of competency skills that provide each gymnast with new challenges and person goals allowing each gymnast to work towards a level best suited to their individual ability.
Gymnasts within the group train on all gymnastics specific equipment including bars, beam, floor and vault and will develop a sound understanding od body movement and spatial awareness to assist with the development of speed and power skills with long term development of flight skills.
Senior Rec 1.5 Hours | 13 Years +
Our Advanced Skills classes for children ages 13 – 18 years are designed to teach gymnasts intermediate to advanced level skills. Gymnasts within these classes will follow a written program based on a set of competency skills that provide each gymnast with new challenges and person goals allowing each gymnast to work towards a level best suited to their individual ability.
Gymnasts within the group train on all gymnastics specific equipment including bars, beam, floor and vault and will develop a sound understanding od body movement and spatial awareness to assist with the development of speed and power skills with long term development of flight skills.
